*Please be patient with me as I add things, lol!*
Prepping for Surgery
Here are some of the more obvious ones:
- Prep your house. Of course, clear paths, and prep the room you're going to stay in. This includes fresh sheets, prepping the nightstand with water, pills, snacks, chargers, books, etc. But some other things to think about:
- Bathroom - make sure that you remove all of the rugs and things you might trip on. Have toiletries in easy to reach places. Here are some great things I bought that have been lifesavers:
- Raised Toilet Seat - this has been a lifesaver, as it's almost impossible to sit on the regular seat due to its height.
- Shower Bench - Another great invention.
- Waterproof Cast/Bandage Protector - great for the shower/bath.
- Bedroom:
- Portable TV Tray - most of your meals will be on this thing.
- Leg Elevator Pillow - this provides consistent yet comfortable elevation. And it's super lightweight.
- BUBBA Mug! - just like at the hospital but not.
Other Important Items For Purchase:
- KneeRover Deluxe Steerable Scooter - there are many models out there, but this one has been great and is serving a good purpose. So much better than crutches.
- Crutches Cushions - if you do decide to go the route of crutches, these pads are great and are much easier on your arms.
- EvenUp shoe balancer - if you will be in a CAM boot for an extended period of time, this is great for taking some of the pressure off your other foot.
hello. I appreciate your blog so very much, I have been looking for information as to what to expect. My surgery is Feb 1st. Thank you for sharing your story.
